Would I rather have the Canon? Sure, but the sizeable price difference makes the Sigma the right choice for some. The Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM Lens turned in good real world performance. The value is there.

A pleasing improvement over it’s predecessor which is well built despite the weight saving. It feels right. The petal hood is also an improvement that is a better fit, especially when reversed. The addition of HSM makes a considerable improvement to the autofocus speed.

Overall, this is an excellent lens. It is the only lens I take with me to shoot roller-hockey games.
