The ATX-Pro 17mm lens is very very flare and ghost resistant. Shooting directly into the sun is not a problem. Only at certain angle will you notice slight ghost or flare in the photo.

The lens far exceeded my expectations in this respect: the chromatic aberration is as good as gone, and sharpness holds up very well up to the edges of the frame. It appears that despite Tokina's "Recommended for digital SLR" text on the box, the lens was clearly designed with film in mind. I can highly recommend the lens for any film shooters that may have stumbled on these pages.

The Tokina AF 17mm f/3.5 AT-X Pro proved to be a solid performer during the tests with no pronounced weaknesses relatively to its lens class. Nonetheless its resolution performance is matched and sometimes even exceeded by some good quality zooms so there're a few question marks behind its concept. That said it remains a good option regarding its moderate price tag.
