Overall sharpness and contrast are both excellent, and images have a nicely warm quality, particularly when compared to Canon's 10-22. Color accuracy is very subjective, of course. I've been very pleased with the color tone and quality of the Sigma 14.

If you shoot film, or there's a full-frame digital body in your future, then I can recommend the new Canon wide zoom to you without reservation.

While the Sigma continues to be an inexpensive solution for D60 and D30 owners, with film and with forthcoming full-frame DSLRs, the corner resolution on the Sigma will be found wanting.

For my particular requirements -- about f/2.8, about this focal length, about this weight, under $1000 -- there isn't another lens currently on the market that I'd rather have.
